Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are dyed with natural dyes and woven from wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of this naturally-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with large temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created by the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, and each one is a unique, original piece.
They can be placed on the floor, of course, but can also be displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If dirt is noticeable: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are all part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed for shipping

The pom-poms on the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before shipping upon request.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
