Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are crafted from vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and features soft, pleasant-to-the-touch fibers rich in lanolin, allowing for effective temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with water to remove detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
