Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps regulate body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs, meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability.
Originating from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
