Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic people in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with long piles. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel.
Gabbeh rugs are tightly woven and known for their excellent durability, said to last for 100 years.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique and original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are made to last, so why not find your own special Gabbeh rug?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
