Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product is soft to the touch and contains a high amount of oil, providing excellent durability and body temperature regulation necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme day-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove detergent residue, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

If requested, we can remove the pom-poms located at the corners and middle of the Gabbeh before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
