Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in daily life, using vegetable-dyed wool with long piles. Daily Care

Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar item tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool.
Please note that the smell will gradually dissipate with use.
