Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, deeply rooted in their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with high oil content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads one by one using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created by nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool.
Please note that the scent will gradually disappear with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
