Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-piled, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by hand-dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If dirt is a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, meticulously wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry it in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but we appreciate your understanding in advance.
