Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are deeply rooted in their way of life, using long-pile wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product, native to the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possesses excellent durability for survival and contains a high oil content, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture that helps regulate body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Gabbeh rugs are meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, giving them a fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their durability, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat retention.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one an original, unique piece.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Notes
Due to the hand-woven nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms located at the corners and mid-sections of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
