Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made from this wool dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to be so durable it can last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool.
And of course, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the unique charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
