Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one thread at a time, using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, making them extremely durable. Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used to color the wool may occur. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery. Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
