Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils for effective body temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh, woven painstakingly by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their soft and fluffy feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
