Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a good amount of oil for efficient body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh, woven meticulously by hand by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from the drastic temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For気になる汚れが気になる場合 (when concerned about stains): Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pompoms can be removed upon request

The pompoms located at the corners and in between on the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pompoms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
